Hi! My name is Asia Purnell, or lensofasia. I will graduate at the University of Oklahoma with a BS in psychology in May of 2026, hoping to receive my master’s in sports psychology later in life.

From Dallas, TX, I played basketball all through my childhood and high school years. I fell in love with sports, but decided not to play in college. Because of this, I tried many different hats in the sports world (social media, videography, journalism, etc.), but photo stuck!

I started shooting as an Oklahoma Student Athletics Photographer in the Fall of 2024. However, in the Fall of 2025, I walked-on the Oklahoma Women’s Basketball Team and balance being the team photographer as well. As a multi-faceted photographer, I have shot events such as the CFP First Round, ESPN College Gameday, high-energy WNBA games, and Stephen Curry’s Underrated Golf Tour.

Although I have my scholarly duties, I also balance basketball practices, traveling, and freelancing work! My passion is people, and I believe that photography allows me to tell the stories of those I come in contact with.
